Recently there has been an explosion of “true” typography on the web and in the mobile space and the opportunities for what can be done with it only continue to grow. In this workshop, we will go over new techniques for using type in the development of websites and mobile apps. We will look at how various foundries are responding to the burgeoning field of “web type” and look at tools that are making it easier to create dynamic and engaging typography in more than just headers for paragraphs. No coding skills required – this won’t be a programming class.

Some of the topics that will be covered include:
• Web-based typography concepts, applications and best practices
• UI/UX considerations in design
• Quick techniques for digital prototyping
• Web & Mobile responsiveness
By the end of the day, students will have made a mini website or app and will be armed with resources to take their idea to the next level.
Required Supplies:
• Laptop (Mac preferred)
• Photoshop, Illustrator and Fireworks (CS4 and up preferred)
• Smart phone (iPhone preferred)
• Experience/familiarity with web design
• Ideas for a website or app you’d like to make (alternate topics will be provided, just in case)
