TypeCon2008 will be held this July in a sweet little gem of a city — Buffalo, New York. After a wildly successful conference in NYC in 2005, our return to New York State finds us again creating a week-long community-wide celebration of type and design. Buffalo is known for its grand architecture, from its numerous Frank Lloyd Wright creations to its monolithic grain elevators; its eclectic indie music scene and late-night activities; its world-renowned contemporary and modern art centers; and its importance in the development of the American Arts and Crafts movement.

Now's the time to register for TypeCon2008! This exciting and affordable conference, presented by The Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA) in partnership with in partnership with the Western New York Book Arts Collaborative, the Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School, the Roycroft Campus Corporation/Roycroft Inn, the University at Buffalo, and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, will be held at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Buffalo. TypeCon2008 is a jam-packed week presentations, exhibitions, hands-on workshops, and special events.
TypeCon2008 features more than 70 speakers, including including Chuck Bigelow, Matthew Carter, James Craig, John Downer, John Hudson, Dard Hunter III, Akira Kobayashi, Pete McCracken, Jan Middendorp, David Pankow, Elizabeth Resnick, Stefan Sagmeister, Paul Shaw, Erik Spiekermann, Ilene Strizver, Jakob Trollbäck, Doyald Young, House Industries, and NLXL. TypeCon2008 explores type for the screen, printing history, Dutch design, type in motion, the American Arts and Crafts movement, Arabic calligraphy and typography, and much more.
Special events include the third annual Type and Design Education Forum, an exhibition of international type and design, and a closing night gathering at the home of the Roycrofters.

Go to http://www.sotalink.com/registration. On the bottom of the screen, enter the appropriate code in the field where it asks for a discount registration code.
Enter the code for Professional Code or Student Code that you received in an e-mail from TDC.
The TDC member discount applies to conference admission only. Workshops, the type and design education forum, and SOTA membership are priced separately, with no discounts given on those options.

TypeCon2008 Accommodations
The TypeCon2008 conference hotel and headquarters is the Hyatt Regency in downtown Buffalo. The center of activity for TypeCon2008, the Hyatt is in a terrific central location near to the main workshop venue, dining, and nightlife.
