Here's a collection of type designs from all corners of the field, brought together in sample pages from independent designers world-wide. From the wilds of Brooklyn to the 'burbs of Prague, from the hollows of Holland to the reaches of Argentina, Indie Fonts shows that type and text are global, and talent and potential is prolific.
Each foundry has a section to devote to displaying their best work; with text in black and silver, or occasional colors, each shows type in use and in example settings. A short index of type names allows quick searching for a particular style of type, of which there are many; they ranging from classic humanist sans to full calligraphic blackletter to industrial grotesque to fonky bitmapped eyedazzlers.
The aspiring type user would do well to at least flip through the pages of this book, if only to see that there are alternatives to the default Times and Helvetica pair; perhaps a nice bookish Storm type paired with a Terminal Design sign face?
