Matthew Richmond and Thomas Romer, The Chopping Block (choppingblock.com, chopshopstore.com)
The Chopping Block opened its studio doors in 1996 with one ambition—“World Domination Through Graphic Design.” Today, our full-service graphic design firm uses this principle to inform every aspect of our projects. Whether creating identities, interactive, or print, our work has proven that intuitive, engaging design drives solutions and spans mediums. Yes, it takes years of dominating the world one design at a time to achieve this understanding. But our collaboration with clients, and deep knowledge of technology and the competitive landscape allows us to continue to conquer in an industry that is constantly evolving.
We have built ourselves to be quick, flexible, and always ready for the challenge— as if world domination weren’t lofty enough. This scrappy attitude is why we thrive on a wide range of projects, big and small, with brands and agencies, and in numerous industries. Along the way we have innovated in big ways and have gained expertise in successfully launching memorable and engaging works that cross into newer mediums, technologies, and platforms.
Recent projects include work for Verizon, Adobe Systems, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Campfire NYC, Bravo TV, Mischen Clothing, Rachael Ray / Reader’s Digest, Conde Nast, Hearst Magazines, MoMA, Snapple, MTV, Comcast, iVillage, Oxygen Networks, They Might be Giants, Phish, Rhino Records, Adobe, 20th Century Fox and Sony Pictures Classics.
