CONCEPT:
I really wanted to fuse (or, in this case, stitch and staple) together the two main elements of the book, hinting at both the monster created and the “wartorn” aspect of the novel. My hope was to capture the white-knuckle horror and black humor, which is the surreal reality of a city at war, by using staples to piece the title together. The final cover features embossing on the staples to create a tactile feel.
