CONCEPT:
Masada, a bilingual editorial serif, inspired by classic Hebrew calligraphy from the 50s, yet its design shows a modern appearance. The family is an all-purpose typeface for running text and display.
Since the Hebrew forms were the source for the design, the Latin was created to follow the same ?whiteness? of Hebrew by dismissing all its bottom serifs, thus creating a homogeneous text color.
The use of cursive letterforms as a secondary style was profoundly essential, as the notion of italic does not exist in Hebrew. Those complex type systems can give Hebrew typographers the same tools as Westerns have.
