SUMMARY:Experimental Calligraphy Workshop with Yomar Augusto
DESCRIPTION:Join typographic artist and graphic designer Yomar Augusto for "Experimental Calligraphy\," a 1-hour virtual workshop. Participants will be immersed into a series of exercises to culminate with the construction of a personal four-letter uppercase word. \nHaving taught for more than 15 years across four continents (Asia\, Europe\, South and North America)\, Yomar has the experience to help students cross the boundary to find their own calligraphic artistic voices. Raised in Rio de Janeiro\, he studied graphic design and started his own studio there before pursuing and attaining a Masters in Type Design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Yomar has also taught at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and the Bauhaus University in Germany\, as well as at FIT and SVA in New York City. He has held multiple experimental calligraphy and book art workshops in many countries. \nTooya\, Yomar’s progressive design and typographic studio\, is currently based in California. \nMaterials and supplies you will need: \n\nDifferent sizes of paper\, of average household quality\nFlat brush - small and medium in size\nPencil\nRuler\nEraser\nBlack liquid ink\nColor liquid ink\nA cutting tool\nSomething to protect your table surface\n\n \nRegistration for this workshop is available on a first-come\, first-served basis. Tickets to workshops are free to TDC members only. Non-members are asked for a suggested donation of ten dollars to help fund our free recordings of events and to grow typographic awareness.
