DESCRIPTION:Everyone is invited to the winter TDC exhibition opening for Dichotomies\, which features posters by 14 designers and illustrators and will be on view at the club through January 30. \nJoin us to welcome type designers Adi Stern and Veronika Burian\, who will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the development of Noam Text\, a dual-script Latin-Hebrew type family. \nAdi Stern will introduce the Hebrew script and share his personal and bumpy path of developing his dual-script (Latin-Hebrew) type family Noam Text. Veronika Burian will provide insights in TypeTogether’s dedication to global typography and the particular challenges of developing Noam Text. \nProfessor Adi Stern is the current president of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design\, Jerusalem\, Israel’s first and leading art and design academy. He is a graphic designer\, type designer\, and design educator who graduated from Bezalel and received his Master’s in Typeface Design from University of Reading\, UK. \nVeronika Burian is a product designer and type designer\, who received her Master’s in Typeface Design from University of Reading\, UK. SUMMARY:Inserting Myself into the Conversation with Ryan Carl
DESCRIPTION:After years of focusing almost exclusively on client work\, Ryan began creating self-initiated type\, art and design projects. He will discuss his background and process\, and walk through his conceptually-driven work that explores themes of identity and being\, hope and togetherness. Ryan enjoys the challenge of evoking thought and feeling from concepts heavily rooted in simplicity and clarity. \nRyan Carl is a multidisciplinary designer who has collaborated on projects with Nike\, Google\, J.Crew\, Warby Parker\, MoMA and others. He is currently VP of Design at Boxed.com. Ryan received a Master’s degree in Religion from University of Oxford\, before becoming a self-taught designer and running his own studio.
