DESCRIPTION:TypeCon is an annual conference presented by the non-profit Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA)\, an international organization dedicated to the promotion\, study\, and support of typography and related arts. \nThe majority of the TypeCon program (see below) takes place at the Hilton Minneapolis from August 28th to September 1st in Minneapolis\, Minnesota. Consult the TypeCon program page for other venues and special event details that will be added. \nWe will be showing all of the award-winning Typeface Designs in a special exhibition alongside the TDC65 Communication Design winners.  Stop by to say hello!  We will also be hosting a special evening with Juan Carlos Pagan on August 29 that you will not want to miss. \nEarly bird pricing ends July 14. DESCRIPTION:The Type Directors Club and the Society of Typographic Aficionados are pleased to announce that lettering artist and illustrator Juan Carlos Pagan will be giving a special presentation on Thursday\, August 29th\, as part of TypeCon2019 “Nice” in Minneapolis\, Minnesota. \nPlus\, a we are hosting a screenprinting activity with Facebook Analog Research Lab! After the talk\, grab a squeegee and print the final layer on a design created just for this special pop-up! It's all happening right here!\n \nJuan Carlos Pagan is a New York-based designer\, typographer\, and creative director\, who currently serves on the board of Type Directors Club. He is currently the founding partner and Executive Creative Director of Sunday Afternoon. He previously held Head of Design and Creative Director positions at 72andSunny NY\, Deutsch NY\, and DDB NY. \nJuan has been honored for his work by the Type Directors Club\, Communication Arts\, The ADC\, One Show\, Graphis\, Cannes Lions\, Clios\, Fast Company\, and Print Magazine among others. His client list includes brands such as Nike\, Google\, New York Times\, ESPN\, Pinterest\, Smirnoff\, and Under Armour. In 2013 Juan received the prestigious Art Directors Club Young Guns award. \nThat same year\, he was named the top of Adweek’s Talent 100 and was subsequently nominated for Print Magazine’s New Visual Artists 20 Under 30. In 2018\, he received the Type Directors Club Ascenders Award\, which recognizes the work of designers who are 35 years of age and under for their remarkable achievement in design\, typography\, type design\, and lettering. \nJuan received his BFA from Parsons School of Design in 2006 and completed his postgraduate studies in typeface design at The Cooper Union in 2011. \nFacebook Analog Research Lab: Read all about the Lab's work and mission here.
