Sulki and Min (Choi Sulki and Choi Sung Min) are graphic designers living and working in and around Seoul, South Korea. They met at Yale University, New Haven, where they earned their MFA degrees. After working as researchers at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, they returned to Korea in 2005 to start their practice. Since then, they have created identities, promotional materials, and publications for clients including Munhakdongne; Mass Studies; National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA); Seoul Museum of Art; Asia Culture Center, Gwangju; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; M+, Hong Kong; Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York; and Philadelphia Museum of Art. Specter Press they ran from 2006 until 2021 is considered a pioneer of independent art publishing in Korea. Crossing the border between design and art, they have participated in numerous exhibitions in Korea and abroad. They held solo exhibitions at Perigee Gallery, Seoul (2017); Whistle, Seoul (2020); AVP Lab, Seoul (2021); and Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok (2023). The first mid-career survey of their work was held in 2021 at the Kyoto DDD Gallery, Japan, and the second one at Transtage, Hangzhou, in 2024. Their work is included in the permanent collection of MMCA, Gwacheon; M+, Hong Kong; Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, New York; Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris; and Victoria & Albert Museum, London. They have written and translated works on the subject of graphic design, typography, art, and popular culture, and taught internationally at such institutions as Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; International Biennial of Graphic Design Brno; Osaka University of Arts; China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing; Rhode Island School of Design, Providence; Yale University; Boston University; Central Saint Martins, London; and Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore; and the Google Design Summit. Sulki is an associate professor at Kaywon University of Art & Design, and Sung Min is a professor at the University of Seoul.
