The Type Directors Club is extremely pleased to present the 2019 Ascenders, ten designers under the age of 35 who show remarkable achievement in typography, type design, and lettering.
The board of the Type Directors Club had the difficult task of selecting this group from 130 outstanding designers from 33 countries. The board was impressed with the quality and diversity of the entries, which offered proof that outstanding work is being done around the world. The individuals selected as 2019 Ascenders represent eight countries.
The names of the Ascenders were announced on July 17 at the TDC’s annual awards ceremony in New York City. The ten designers will receive awards designed by Paul Carlos at a ceremony at Type Directors Club on August 13 in New York City. Their work will be exhibited there from August 13 to September 13, 2019, and will be published in the 2020 TDC annual, The World’s Best Typography.
