29LT Idris Flat + Sharp
Description
A crafted bi-script modern Arabic Naskh and Serif Latin typeface, designed with three axes: weight, contrast, and extension. Drawing inspiration from historical influences and underpinned by extensive research on a lead type from the 1950s, this typeface has been enhanced with cutting-edge technology for body text and display purposes. Developed using the latest Arabic type technology available within the OpenType realm, the typeface is drawn with a 2º baseline slant, extensive contextual alternates capable of generating thousands of 2, 3, or 4 letter combinations, and contextual anchors that prevent overlaps between base forms and diacritic dots or accents. Contextual kerning adjusts the kerning of broken Arabic words based on the horizontal height or the initial letters within the word in relation to the preceding letter. Additionally, the variable font’s Extension axis allows users to adjust Arabic cups and baseline elongation, enabling precise justification of Arabic texts and word width determination.
