Abracadabra
Description
This dark album by French-Canadian baroque pop icon explores themes of illusion and torment. The art direction transposes the codes of magic into a predominantly typographic language. Type is set like mysterious formulas—spellbinding spirals, inverted triangles forming repetitive incantations. The bespoke lettering on the back of the album and merch items serves as a central talisman. Juxtapositions of contrasting colours create a vibrant optical effect that plays with perception. Adding to the mystery, a perforation on the cover conceals the artist’s face, replaced by delicate typography on a striking red dot. As the listener removes the vinyl from its sleeve, the artist’s face emerges from the mist.
