Description
This projectisa color font developed as an educational and exploratory tool for understanding Roman Capitals through stroke construction. The letterforms are generated from the author brush strokes, executed according to the method established by Father Edward C.
Father Edward C.’s investigations into classical Roman inscriptions revealed that their forms were first shaped through brush strokes, not carving. By carefully studying enlarged photographs and physical impressions of the capitals on Trajan’s Column, he exposed the calligraphic decisions embedded in what had long been considered purely sculptural work. His findings continue to influence how designers read proportion, rhythm, and contrast in the Roman alphabet.
The family includes solid and grayscale versions, along with stylistic sets that display outlines and proportional guides.
