Crop X: Yield
Description
CROP X: YIELD is the tenth edition of the CROP series by Texas Tech University’s Huckabee College of Architecture. Designed by Blossom Liu and Danny Gray of Studio BLDG, the 272 page publication is a showcase of the school of architecture's student work, bilingual interviews with architects and faculty, and group projects. From the exposed smyth sewn spines featuring custom typography, to the silkscreened softcovers, to the layouts of each spread, this book was designed as an expression of architectural and graphic design principals. The title of the publication, CROP, served as a jumping off point to leverage printers' and typographers' marks (such as the crop mark), as intentional graphic motifs. This book was designed with architects and graphic designers alike, a nod to the foundational rules between both worlds—expression vs. restraint, positive and negative space, and beauty vs. utility.
