OpenAI DevDay 2025
Description
For OpenAI DevDay, typography was designed as a modular system that extended beyond traditional branding into immersive and interactive environments. Square brackets and ASCII characters structured the keynote, environmental graphics, livestream overlays, and installations, functioning as an indexing framework rather than decoration.
The system then evolved into playable media. Four custom arcade games were built directly from the typographic language, translating brackets, code logic, and structural constraints into game mechanics. The visual system became the rule set. A fifth AI-powered game used Mad Libs-style inputs to generate entirely new game concepts, demonstrating the generative nature of the platform itself.
By transforming the identity into arcade cabinets, the brand moved from screen-based communication into hands-on participation. Typography became spatial, tactile, and game-based. The result was a hackable, experiential system that lived across stage, broadcast, and gameplay, turning DevDay into a fully interactive expression of developer culture.
