Revelations of Divine Love - Film Titles

Description

Film titles—including lettering, typeface design, layout and animation—for the film REVELATIONS OF DIVINE LOVE directed by Caroline Golum. The film is based on the writings of Julian of Norwich, an English anchoress. A suite of three type styles were developed loosely based on Uncial/Lombardic capitals seen in manuscripts and writings from 14–15th century Norwich, England. To match the film's modern lighting, and digital filming, the typefaces did not shy away from styles which inherently show their digital construction (embracing the bezier over the hand-drawn). The type styles include an alphabet of Lombardic drop capitals, a flared serif 'romanization' of the drop caps for the main body text, and a sans-serif variation for small and supportive text. The main title features an animated piece of lettering based on a Carolingian hand from the same period.
