Ritornello–BIFT 2024

The theme of the BIFT Graduation Works BA, Class of 2024 is Ritornello. This book is a collection of works from this year’s graduation exhibition. With contributions from seven departments across various disciplines, the book’s design had to carefully balance uniqueness and cohesion.
The theme of this year’s exhibition, Ritornello, posed the challenge of translating an auditory sensation into a visual experience. It uses semi-transparent paper, allowing the content to appear layered and overlapping, visually conveying the auditory sensation of Ritornello. The book’s cover and inner pages are made from two types of lightweight, translucent paper. The binding adopts a minimalist structure, resulting in a soft, flexible form that offers a light and enjoyable reading experience.
Graphics, text, and images appear to move and leap as one flips through the pages of the book. The shifting words and graphics, layered upon one another, create a fresh sensory experience.
