TOOL REMIX
Description
TOOL REMIX is a self-initiated magazine which tends to explore new possibilities of tools by offering new perspectives on creating, modifying, and reusing tools. The magazine encourages its reader to question and to rethink about the fully optimized tools.
The special issue collects stories of individuals and communities who have embraced the ethos of repurposing. From internet artists who utilized glyphs to make up images in the early computer age, to street drummers who collect buckets and pans as their custom instruments, each story showcases a creative way of looking at our daily tools.
Design-wise, I repurposed the most basic elements on the keyboards, characters and glyphs, in three different ways: as components of bigger type, as illustration, and as texture to build up the visual identity for the special issue.
