CONCEPT:
The content and design were developed simultaneously with the aim of reframing the craft of knitting, showing the technical character of knitting practice (as “analog programming”), rather than other perceptions. Instruction manuals from the 1970s and DIY publications like Domebook inspired a certain strictness paired with an open-hearted nerd spirit. The main colors—orange and blue—represent the two sides of knitting: the precise algorithmic instructions and the soft woolly artifacts. The cloth-like cover material gives the reader an instant tactile relationship, even with no previous relationship to knitting or textile crafts.
