In 2020, after a decade of practicing calligraphy, I began experimenting more freely with abstract brushstrokes and hybrid alphabets. What started as daily practice grew into a body of work where Gothic structures and Roman capitals intertwine with fluid scripts, creating tension and harmony in every letter. These explorations became central to my style, evolving from ink and paper to digital experiments crafted on the iPad with custom brushes I developed.
What started as calligraphy practice turned into an ongoing exploration of hybrid forms, letters where rigidity and fluidity intersect. I create alphabets by layering traditions: heavy blackletter strokes, geometric Roman capitals, and expressive scripts. These experiments reflect my belief that letterforms hold both history and movement, and that their beauty lies in contrast.
My process often begins with ink and brush, later migrating to digital. On the iPad, I rely on custom brushes I’ve designed, which faithfully capture the textures of analog tools while offering the flexibility of the digital medium. These tools, which I also make available as a Brush Pack, are integral to both my personal and commercial projects. Many of these explorations evolve into artworks, commissioned lettering pieces, or products available in my online shop.
